Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade and Celebrations – Commemorative celebrations are held annually in January including a special youth evening program. The parade begins at the corner of Marine and Van Ness Avenue heading north on Van Ness Avenue to Rowley Park following the parade.

Gardena Cymbidium ShowAnnual award winning orchid show held in February at the Nakaoka Community Center from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and sponsored by the Gardena Cymbidium Club. Free Admission. 

Spring Festival- Afternoon in the Park held at Rowley Park from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Free Admission. Entertainment, craft & vendor booths.

Zen Nippon Airinkai Koi Show – Held annually in March at the Nakaoka Community Center from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., Free Admission. Koi Show featuring Koi from all over the U.S.

Gardena Spring Craft Sale – Held annually in March at the Civic Center grounds and Nakaoka Community Center. Handmade craft items for sale over 100 vendors. Free admission.

Easter Bunny Brunch – Held annually at the Nakaoka Community Center. Egg hunt, bunny visit, crafts, puppet show. Tickets required.

Easter Egg Hunts and Programs – Held at City of Gardena parks, featuring egg hunts, games, arts & crafts. Free for all ages.

Spring Break Day Camp – Held at Nakaoka Community Center and participating parks. Provides snacks, drinks, activities, excursions.

Youth Chess Tournament – Held annually in April at the Nakaoka Community Center for children grades K-12 welcome.

Annual South Bay Youth Fishing Day – Held at Alondra Park Lake, located at 3535 W. Redondo Beach Blvd.

Cinco de Mayo Parade & Celebration – Parade begins at New Hampshire and Gardena Blvd and ends with a Fiesta at Fukai Park.

Gardena Kiwanis Field Day & Picnic – Held annually in May at Freeman Park. Pre-registration suggested.

Friends of the Gardena Willows Wetlands Environmental Fair2nd Annual Environmental Fair held at Johnson Park. 

Youth Sports Basketball BanquetHeld in May at the Nakaoka Community Center. 

GRAGA Palm Springs Golf Tournament – Join Gardena Royal and Ancient Golf Association to compete in the annual friendly golf tournament.

Summer Day Camp at Johnson, Freman and Rowley Parks – Children aged 6-12 years can be enrolled in our summer day camp program. Nominal Fee and Pre-Registration.

Annual Independance Day Celebration – Held annually on the 4th of July at Rowley Park, 13220 S. Van Ness Ave. Free fireworks display begins at 9 p.m.

Gardena DODGER Day – At Dodger Stadium. Various ticket prices.

Annual Jazz Festival – Held annually in August at Rowley Park, 13220 S. Van Ness Ave. Join us in one of our largest events of the year. Food and craft vendors are also available on site.

Wall of Fame Dedication Ceremony – Held in September at the Nakaoka Community Center, 1670 W. 162nd Street at 10 a.m. Event honors citizens which have made outstanding contributions to the betterment of the community. Co-sponsored by the Gardena Beautiful Committee.

Keep Gardena Beautiful Day – Held yearly in September. Volunteers gather together to clean up City parks, right of ways and neighborhoods. Sponsored by the Public Works Department. To participate, call Public Works at 1-310-217-9568.

Annual Pancake Breakfast -Sponsored by the Gardena Police Department who kicks off the Annual Heritage Festival at the Nakaoka Community Center from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Proceeds to benefit the Gardena Police Explorers and Volunteer Programs.

Heritage Festival and Street Fair – Held yearly from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Nakaoka Community Center Civic Center, 1700 blk. of 162nd Street. Featuring food samples, displays, information booths, arts & crafts and continuous entertainment.

Gardena Food, Wine & Cigar Festival – Will be held on the Civic Center lawn. Celebrating local restaurants, taste good wine and for those interested, a cigar or two. Event proceeds to benefit the Senior Citizen’s Day Care Center. Ticketed entry – Nominal Fee.

Halloween Programs – Held at Rowley, Mas Fukai and Freeman parks from 6-9 p.m. Entertainment, costume parade & contests, food & game booths, Haunted House.

Veteran’s Day Celebration – Held at the Nakaoka Community Center for veteran’s of the community, both living and deceased, who fought for their country will be honored by the City of Gardena War Memorial Committee. Event features music and a guest speaker. Reception with light refreshments to follow.

Annual Senior Health Fair – Held at theNakaoka Community Center in November and co-sponsored by the South Bay Family Health Care Clinic will offer seminars, health screenings and more. For further information, please call 1-310-217-9552.

Christmas Craft Faire – Held annually in December at the Nakaoka Community Center. Will display and sell hand-made items, gifts, paintings, crocheted or knitted pieces, home-grown plants etc. FREE admission.

Christmas Ball for the Developmentally Disabled – Christmas Dance for those with Developmental Disabilities, their friends and families. Held at the Nakaoka Community Center.

Senior Citizen’s Luncheon – Held at the Nakaoka Community Center/Civic Center, 1700 W. 162nd Street. Christmas music, fun, door prizes.

Breakfast With Santa – Held annually in December at the Nakaoka Community Center. Breakfast, pictures with Santa and entertainment. For discount pre-sale tickets, call (310) 217-9537.
